Public Health France Barometers

The Santé publique France Health Barometer: a survey of health-related behaviors, opinions, and knowledge designed to guide public health prevention and education policies.

In 2021, Santé publique France launched the second edition of its DROM Health Barometers, a tool designed to guide prevention policies and public information efforts for residents of Guadeloupe, Martinique, French Guiana, and Réunion.

The survey methodology, as with the component conducted in metropolitan France, relies on the random generation of landline and mobile phone numbers.

The survey took place from April 7 to October 12, 2021, for the French West Indies and French Guiana, and from April 20 to July 13, 2021, for Réunion. More than 6,000 people aged 18 to 85 and residing in these territories were interviewed by telephone: 1,511 in Guadeloupe, 1,526 in Martinique, 1,478 in French Guiana, and 2,004 in Réunion. The average duration of the questionnaire was thirty-six minutes.

A wide range of topics were covered: the environment, addictions (tobacco, alcohol), vaccination, diabetes, high blood pressure, COVID-19, mental health, suicidal behavior, diet, and physical activity.
