The Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games (OPG) will take place in France from July 26 to August 11 and from August 28 to September 8. Bringing together 206 nations, this 23rd edition of the Games represents an event of exceptional scale, with a massive influx of people expected in the country (approximately 15,000 athletes, 20,000 journalists, 50,000 seasonal workers or volunteers, and several million spectators). Several regions will host Olympic events, particularly the Île-de-France region, where the majority of competitions will take place (at nearly 25 venues), as well as Hauts-de-France, Pays de la Loire, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, and Centre-Val de Loire. This type of event requires heightened vigilance regarding health risks for all populations present on French territory. Santé publique France is fully mobilized in its role of health monitoring, surveillance of health status, and protection of public health.
