2010 Health Barometer
The 2010 Health Barometer is the fifth wave of this extensive study and one of the largest surveys conducted to date in terms of health-related information, covering more than 25 topics.
The fieldwork for the 2010 survey, conducted by the GFK-ISL institute, took place from October 22, 2009, to July 3, 2010, in metropolitan France, involving 27,653 people. Phone numbers were randomly generated from area codes starting with 01... 05 (geographic numbers), which made it possible to survey households on the do-not-call list. Households equipped solely with a mobile phone were also included through random number generation. Households with fully unbundled service, whose numbers begin with 08 or 09, were reached via their mobile phones, ultimately ensuring nearly complete coverage of the population residing in mainland France. To be eligible, a household had to include at least one person aged 15 to 85 who spoke French. Within the household, the respondent was selected at random from among the eligible household members.
The questionnaire took an average of 32 minutes to complete. The data were weighted by the number of eligible individuals and telephone lines within the household and calibrated against the most recent INSEE national reference data available at the time the 2010 Health Barometer database was prepared, namely those from the 2008 Employment Survey.
The survey results concerning various topics and populations were made public through articles, oral presentations, posters displayed at conferences, press releases, or other publication formats.

Multithematic
Under the 2004 Public Health Act, an evaluation principle was announced: "the principle that health objectives and strategic plans must, from their inception, include elements that will enable the evaluation of the actions undertaken." A number of these objectives are evaluated using indicators from the 2010 Health Barometer, such as the prevalence of risky or harmful alcohol use, daily smoking, secondhand smoke exposure, sedentary behavior and physical activity, cervical cancer screening, the healthcare team’s consideration of pain, and the occurrence of a major depressive episode... The 5th 2011 follow-up report on the objectives attached to the Public Health Act of August 2004 is available on the website of the Directorate for Research, Studies, Evaluation, and Statistics (Drees).
