Key Points
In Week 34 (August 19–25, 2024), emergency department visits decreased across all age groups compared to the previous week (-6.1%, or -24,045 visits across all ages). Hospitalizations following emergency department visits remained stable across all age groups.
Most seasonal indicators are stable or declining. This is particularly true for pertussis visits across all age groups (-11.7%, or -42 visits across all ages). Visits for suspected COVID-19 infection are stable across all age groups compared to Week 33.
Among other indicators, there has been an increase in visits:
among children and adults for asthma (+5.9%, or +114 visits across all age groups);
among children under 2 years of age for specific abdominal pain (+9.8%, or 59 visits) and for urinary tract infections (+7.1%, or +21 visits).
