Key points

While the number of HIV serology tests performed per 1,000 inhabitants, after falling by 12.5% in 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 crisis, rose again in 2021, it did not reach the 2019 level.
The number of positive test results estimated by the LaboVIH survey remained stable between 2020 and 2021 (+2%), after declining between 2019 and 2020.
Among those who learned of their HIV-positive status in 2021, 51% were men who have sex with men (MSM), 19% were heterosexuals born abroad, 16% were heterosexuals born in France, 1.7% were people who inject drugs, and 1.7% were transgender individuals.
