COVID-19 and Monkeypox: Epidemiological Update for the Île-de-France Region as of December 29, 2022

In Week 51 in Île-de-France, virological and hospital indicators showed a downward trend.
The regional incidence rate was 231 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, down from Week 50. The positivity rate also declined, while the testing rate remained stable.
The BA.5 sublineage of the Omicron variant accounted for nearly all sequencing results.
Visits to primary care and emergency departments for “suspected COVID-19” were decreasing.
The number of new hospitalizations and the number of new admissions to critical care units related to COVID-19 were decreasing. The number of in-hospital deaths remained stable.
The total number of new COVID-19 cases reported by ESMS remained stable.
Monkeypox
From mid-May through December 27, 2022, 3,119 cases of monkeypox were reported in Île-de-France (region of residence), including 2,505 biologically confirmed cases.
