COVID-19 and Monkeypox: Epidemiological Update for the Île-de-France Region as of December 29, 2022

In Week 51 in Île-de-France, virological and hospital indicators showed a downward trend.

  • The regional incidence rate was 231 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, down from Week 50. The positivity rate also declined, while the testing rate remained stable.

  • The BA.5 sublineage of the Omicron variant accounted for nearly all sequencing results.

  • Visits to primary care and emergency departments for “suspected COVID-19” were decreasing.

  • The number of new hospitalizations and the number of new admissions to critical care units related to COVID-19 were decreasing. The number of in-hospital deaths remained stable.

  • The total number of new COVID-19 cases reported by ESMS remained stable.

Monkeypox

  • From mid-May through December 27, 2022, 3,119 cases of monkeypox were reported in Île-de-France (region of residence), including 2,505 biologically confirmed cases.
