Key Points

Dengue

  • Over the past two weeks, the circulation of the virus has been on the rise in French Guiana, both in urban areas and in hospitals, particularly on the island of Cayenne and in western French Guiana.

  • In emergency rooms, the number of visits has increased by 40%. In the Maroni region, the outbreak in Grand-Santi remains active, and cases are also being detected in other municipalities.

  • The DEN-3 serotype predominates, except on the island of Cayenne, where the DEN-2 serotype is circulating at equivalent levels.

Malaria

  • In S50 and S51, 46 cases of malaria were reported each week in French Guiana. Of these, 76% were single episodes of P. vivax and 20% were relapses.

  • In total, 308 cases of malaria were diagnosed in French Guiana in 2023.

  • This increase in cases has been particularly marked since early November, when more than 60% of cases were diagnosed.

Bronchiolitis

  • The epidemic continues, with a downward trend.

Influenza

  • Ongoing epidemic with an upward trend.

COVID-19

  • Increased patient volume in emergency departments and outpatient clinics.

Diarrhea

  • Epidemiological indicators are decreasing in inland communities and moderate in coastal communities.
