The National Nutrition and Health Program (PNNS): A Review of Studies and Observed Results
From the outset, the PNNS planned to evaluate the extent to which it had achieved its objectives. Monitoring systems were established, methodologies developed, and evaluation studies organized to assess the achievement of the set objectives and to highlight changes in the nutritional status, dietary habits, nutrition-related lifestyles, and the French population’s knowledge and perceptions regarding nutrition. These elements now provide accurate information on the current nutritional situation, particularly in relation to the PNNS’s objectives, enable tracking of changes in the population’s knowledge and perceptions since the PNNS’s implementation, and allow for the evaluation of processes established as part of certain communication initiatives. These data were collected by the national health agencies (InVs, ANSES, INPES) responsible for surveillance, expertise, and health communication and education. (R.A.)
