Public Health France 2026 Barometer: Launch of the Survey

Santé publique France is launching the 16th edition of the Santé publique France Health Barometer. Nearly 80,000 people aged 18 to 79 are invited to participate in this survey.

Public Health France Barometers

The Barometers: a survey tracking French people’s behaviors to guide public health and public awareness policies.

Since 1992, Santé publique France’s Barometers have provided a broad overview of the French population’s health-related opinions and habits.
Thus, since March 16, 2026, nearly 80,000 people residing in mainland France and in four overseas departments and regions (Guadeloupe, Martinique, French Guiana, and Réunion) have been invited to participate in the 2026 edition. The initial results of this study will be released in late 2027.

What is the purpose of the survey?

This survey provides a better understanding of the opinions and health habits of the population residing in France to guide prevention policies and help reduce social and regional health inequalities.

It also enhances our understanding of the population’s health status regarding indicators not covered by existing surveillance systems.

The results are therefore valuable for all researchers and stakeholders involved in the field of public health.

How are the people invited to participate selected?

INSEE (the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies) randomly selected individuals from its databases to obtain a sample that reflects all situations in France: all ages, all regions, and all occupational backgrounds.

This sample provides a condensed yet accurate picture of the population, but for this to be effective, the participation of all invited individuals is essential.

How is the survey conducted?

Selected individuals are notified by mail (and/or email) and are invited to complete a questionnaire that takes an average of 30 minutes. The website barometre.etudes.santepubliquefrance.fr provides useful information for all those selected to participate.

Data collection is carried out by the polling firm Ipsos bva.

Santé publique France would like to thank all selected participants in advance for their cooperation and the time they will devote to the survey.
