Psychoactive substances: what young people are using.

This article reviews the principles of representative surveys of the general population and their role in monitoring addictive behaviors: quantifying the levels of use of various psychoactive substances, describing the diversity of usage patterns and their links to other factors, and tracking trends over time. Some data on young people from the INPES Health Barometer and Escapad surveys (conducted by the OFDT) are presented.
