Chikungunya, Dengue, and Zika

Indigenous Cases

As of August 3, 2026, five outbreaks of locally transmitted vector-borne disease have been identified in mainland France:

• 3 chikungunya outbreaks totaling seven cases (1 to 5 cases per outbreak) in the Tarn (Occitanie) and Gironde (Nouvelle-Aquitaine);
• 2 dengue outbreaks (1 case per outbreak) in the Tarn and Hérault departments (Occitanie).

Investigations and prevention and control measures are underway for these various outbreaks.

Imported Cases

From May 1, when enhanced surveillance began, through August 2, 2026, the following cases were identified:

• 98 imported cases of chikungunya
• 274 imported cases of dengue
• 9 imported cases of Zika

West Nile virus infections

Locally acquired cases

• As of August 3, 2026, four locally acquired cases of West Nile virus infection have been identified in the departments of Pyrénées-Orientales (Occitanie) and Bouches-du-Rhône (Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur).
