Places where tobacco was purchased between 2014 and 2018: results from the Santé publique France Barometer

KEY POINTS: In 2018, among adults, 77.8% of cigarette smokers (manufactured or hand-rolled) reported having purchased their tobacco at a tobacco shop in France during their most recent purchase. This proportion is stable compared to 2014 (78.7%) but has decreased compared to 2017 (81.3%); the share of those who made their most recent purchase in a neighboring country was 16.4% in 2018 (a proportion not significantly different from that observed in 2014 and 2017), with this rate being higher in the Grand-Est and Hauts-de-France regions; in 2018, among adults, 44.3% of cigarette smokers reported having purchased tobacco abroad at least once in the twelve months preceding the survey.
