Acute Respiratory Infections - Summary of the 2024-2025 Winter Season

  • Influenza and influenza-like illnesses:

    • A 10-week epidemic, from mid-December (W51-2024) to late January (W04-2025).

    • Very high intensity in community practice and hospitals.

    • Unusual co-circulation of the three viruses A(H1N1)pdm09, A(H3N2), and B/Victoria.

    • Estimated vaccination coverage in Corsica was the lowest in mainland France (46% among those aged 65 and older and 19% among at-risk individuals under 65).

  • Bronchiolitis:

    • Short-lived epidemic (6 weeks), from early January (W02-2025) to mid-February (W07-2025), starting later than in most other regions.

    • Low-intensity outbreak.

  • COVID-19:

    • Low activity throughout the 2024-25 winter season.
