Epidemiological Surveillance in the Pays de la Loire Region. Update as of July 2, 2014.

Over the past week in the region:

  • A few reports of enterovirus meningitis at Nantes University Hospital;

  • SOS Médecins continues to see patients for heatstroke and insect bites, though without a significant increase;

  • It is still the season for plankton blooms, which render mussels unfit for consumption in certain coastal areas (see p. 11). Dinoflagellates, which are usually the cause, trigger a diarrheal syndrome within hours of consumption.
