Surveillance of conjunctivitis in Réunion. Epidemiological update as of April 30, 2015.

Epidemiological Situation

The conjunctivitis outbreak, which began when schools reopened in January on the island and peaked in week 11, has been over since mid-April. Various health indicators show that private medical practice visits have returned to normal. Twelve percent of Réunion residents reportedly sought care from a general practitioner for conjunctivitis during the outbreak. Microbiological test results identified the pathogen responsible for this outbreak: Coxsackievirus A24.
