Epidemiological Situation

Emergency room visits for gastroenteritis in hospitals, which have been on the rise since the start of the school year, decreased slightly during the week of September 22–28, but remain at high levels for this time of year. However, the outbreak is intensifying among private practice general practitioners. Thus, during the week of September 22–28, the number of emergency room visits for gastroenteritis and the number of private practice consultations were comparable to those observed during the major 2012 outbreak. Furthermore, the rotavirus positivity rate has been rising since July, confirming the circulation of this virus in Réunion.
