Seasonal outbreak of rotavirus gastroenteritis in Réunion. Epidemiological update as of October 5, 2012
Epidemiological Situation
The increase in medical activity related to gastroenteritis continues in Réunion. This sharp upward trend is highlighted by the OSCOUR® hospital emergency surveillance network and by Réunion’s sentinel physician network. Both systems show that cases have exceeded seasonal averages. Young children remain the most affected population. According to virological surveillance, this increase is primarily linked to the circulation of rotavirus on the island.
