Monitoring of calls to 15 emergency hotlines and activity in hospital emergency departments in Réunion and Mayotte. Update as of October 4, 2013.
News: Increase in Emergency Department Visits for Respiratory Conditions
Over the past few weeks, an increase in cases of nasopharyngitis, asthma, and pneumonia has been observed in Réunion’s emergency departments, accompanied by a slight rise in the number of visits for bronchiolitis. A similar increase is visible in mainland France’s emergency departments and is likely due to the circulation of rhinoviruses. In Mayotte, an increase in emergency department activity for pneumonia has also been observed over the past three weeks.
