Leptospirosis Surveillance in Mayotte. Epidemiological Update as of January 22, 2018.

Background

In Mayotte, cases of leptospirosis are reported year-round, but an increase is observed during the rainy season between January and May. Locally, the primary identified reservoir for the bacterium is the rat. Leptospirosis surveillance in Mayotte relies on the reporting of all diagnoses confirmed by the laboratory at the Mayotte Hospital Center and transmitted to the ARS-OI’s Health Monitoring, Alert, and Management Unit. This section presents the leptospirosis surveillance data for Mayotte reported for the year 2017.
