Dengue Surveillance in Réunion. Update as of December 10, 2019.

Key Points

  • Dengue fever continues to circulate at a higher rate than that observed during the same period in 2018. In week 47, 10 cases were reported, and 6 cases in week 48 (unconsolidated data), bringing the total to 18,108 confirmed cases since the beginning of the year;

  • The proportion of cases reported in the East, particularly in St. André, is increasing.

  • The municipalities of St. Paul, St. André, and St. Leu account for most of the cases among the 7 municipalities reporting cases in weeks 47 and 48

  • The co-circulation of the two serotypes, DENV1 and DENV2, continues across the entire island, and cases of secondary dengue are being identified
