Dengue Situation in Mayotte. Epidemiological Update as of June 18, 2014.

Analysis of the Epidemiological Situation

Despite a slight downward trend during week 24, the monitored indicators (weekly number of biologically confirmed dengue cases and general practitioners’ activity related to visits for dengue-like syndrome) show that dengue virus circulation in Mayotte remains very active across the island. While viral circulation appears to be decreasing on Petite Terre, it remains just as intense in the Mamoudzou clusters, and local transmission of the virus is still being observed in other areas of the island. The highest level of vigilance must be maintained to limit the risk of the situation escalating into a widespread epidemic across the entire territory.
