Key Points

  • Since the beginning of 2025, more than 33,000 biologically confirmed cases and 91,500 medical consultations for chikungunya have been recorded on the island.

  • The epidemic is still ongoing, with 4,913 confirmed cases and 19,600 reported consultations in Week 14. The epidemic is widespread and major.

  • However, in week 14, indicators related to chikungunya in primary care and emergency departments began to decline; a further two weeks of data are needed to confirm whether or not the epidemic has passed its peak.

  • Since week 11, 41 severe cases of chikungunya have been reported in elderly individuals or infants who presented with a severe clinical condition requiring intensive care.
