Public Health Surveillance in Languedoc-Roussillon. Epidemiological Update as of December 24, 2015.

Key Points

Bronchiolitis: The outbreak remains very active and is spreading in the Languedoc-Roussillon region. More than 180 emergency room visits occurred in week 2015-51, with a high hospitalization rate of 39% among children under 2 years of age. We estimate that we are very close to the peak of the outbreak in our region.

Bronchitis: While the number of diagnosed cases of bronchitis in France increased in week 2015-51 regardless of the data source, the rise already observed in recent weeks has continued only in the emergency departments of the Languedoc-Roussillon region, but not among the SOS Médecins associations.

Pneumonia: Activity remains at very low levels in the Languedoc-Roussillon region, as in the rest of France.

Gastroenteritis: Activity remains well below the levels usually observed in late December and below epidemic thresholds.

Influenza: Only a few sporadic cases.
