Public Health Surveillance in Languedoc-Roussillon. Epidemiological Update as of December 20, 2012

Surveillance of Seasonal Illnesses

- Bronchiolitis: high activity; the epidemic peak appears to have been reached in week 2012-49 in France, while the number of cases continues to rise in the region. - Influenza: data from the unified Sentinelles and Grog network show a nationwide upward trend in influenza-like illnesses, although these remain below the epidemic threshold. In the region, only emergency department visit data show a recent upward trend for influenza-like illnesses. - Gastroenteritis: low and relatively stable activity in the region and a sharp increase in France, particularly in emergency departments and among SOS Médecins associations. However, the Sentinelles network reports a regional incidence rate close to the epidemic threshold.
