Influenza Surveillance in Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Update as of January 19, 2022.
Key Points
Flu indicators have stabilized; pre-epidemic phase for the 5th week.
Week 02-2022 (January 10–16, 2022):
SOS-Médecins: 581 consultations for flu-like syndrome recorded, representing 6.2% of total activity (compared to 5.6% in Week 01)
Oscour®: 120 emergency room visits for influenza or influenza-like illness, representing 0.5% of total activity (same as in Week 01), of which 19% resulted in hospitalization. More than two-thirds of visits involved children under 15 years of age (73% in week 02) and, more specifically, children under 5 years of age (52% in week 02)
Virology data:
Influenza A: 20 positive samples at the Bordeaux University Hospital, 14 at the Poitiers University Hospital, and 6 at the Limoges University Hospital, representing a regional positivity rate of 6% (as in Week 01)
Influenza B: no positive samples at the Bordeaux, Limoges, and Poitiers University Hospitals
Severe influenza cases: 1 patient admitted to the ICU was reported in week 02, bringing the total to 4 admitted to the ICU since the start of surveillance in week 40 of 2021
Clustered cases of acute respiratory infection (ARI) in long-term care facilities: 1 episode attributed to influenza was reported in week 02
