Influenza Surveillance in Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Update as of February 2, 2022.
Key Points
Slight decrease in emergency room visits for influenza or flu-like illness; stabilization of other influenza indicators; pre-epidemic phase for the 7th consecutive week
Week 04-2022 (January 24–30, 2022):
SOS-Médecins: 502 consultations for flu-like illness recorded, representing 5.3% of total activity (compared to 5.5% in week 03)
Oscour®: 147 emergency room visits for influenza or influenza-like illness, representing 0.6% of total activity (compared to 0.7% in Week 03), of which 12% resulted in hospitalization. Nearly 80% of visits involved children under 15 years of age (as in week 03) and more specifically children under 5 years of age (53% compared to 47% in week 03)
Virology data:
Influenza A: 17 positive samples at Bordeaux University Hospital, 19 at Poitiers University Hospital, and 10 at Limoges University Hospital, representing a regional positivity rate of 6% (5% in week 03)
Influenza B: no positive samples at the Bordeaux, Limoges, and Poitiers University Hospitals
Severe influenza cases: 2 patients admitted to intensive care reported in week 04, for a total of 7 since the start of surveillance in week 40-2021
Clustered cases of acute respiratory infection (ARI) in long-term care facilities: no episodes reported in week 04
