COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for the Île-de-France Region as of June 23, 2022

Key Points

In Week 24 in Île-de-France, the rise in virological and hospital indicators continued at a more pronounced rate, prompting continued high vigilance in the coming weeks.

  • The regional crude incidence rate rose for the third consecutive week to 642 cases per 100,000 residents. The same upward trend was observed for the testing rate.

  • The positivity rate (23.5%) increased for the fourth consecutive week.

  • The BA.4 and BA.5 sublineages of the Omicron variant are now predominant in Île-de-France.

  • Use of primary care for “suspected COVID-19” was increasing.

  • New hospitalizations, new admissions to intensive care, and hospital deaths related to COVID-19 were increasing.

  • New reports of COVID-19 cases by healthcare facilities, as well as the number of new confirmed cases, were increasing.

Given the continued circulation of SARS-CoV-2, vaccination (and booster shots) for all eligible individuals remains essential and must be combined with strict adherence to other preventive measures.
