COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for the Île-de-France Region as of June 2, 2022

Key Points

In Week 21 in Île-de-France, the measured incidence rate stabilized, the positivity rate increased, and hospital indicators generally continued their downward trend. The slowing decline in virological indicators calls for cautious monitoring of the epidemiological situation.

  • The crude incidence rate (adjusted) stabilized at 207 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

  • The same downward trend was generally observed for the testing rate.

  • The positivity rate (11.9%) increased at the regional level and across all departments in the Île-de-France region after six consecutive weeks of decline.

  • The BA.2 sublineage of the Omicron variant remains predominant in Île-de-France, but there has been a steady increase in the BA.4 and BA.5 sublineages.

  • New hospitalizations, critical care admissions, and COVID-19-related hospital deaths continued to decline in S21 (SI-VIC data).

  • Vaccination coverage is increasing slowly in the region.
