The department of Seine-Saint-Denis is heavily affected by tuberculosis. Medical and social services teams conduct screenings not only in public facilities but also directly in workers’ hostels, where overcrowding and precarious living conditions contribute to the spread of the disease. The success of this initiative depends on a “community-based” approach that engages all possible channels of communication with these isolated populations.
