In 2002, the Paris Health Insurance Fund launched an oral health prevention initiative targeting elderly residents in nursing homes in northeastern Paris. In 2010, the initiative expanded to cover the entire Paris region by including Parisian nursing homes that had requested participation, particularly those with a social focus (twenty nursing homes in 2011, including eight from the City of Paris Social Action Center).
