Dengue Prevention in French Guiana: A Public Awareness Campaign.

French Guiana is heavily affected by dengue fever, a disease transmitted by mosquitoes. Since 2005, government authorities have implemented a public awareness campaign, which has helped improve public knowledge of the disease. However, this level of awareness remains insufficient, as only 55% of French Guianans consider dengue fever to be a dangerous disease. Populations that are most geographically and linguistically isolated remain on the margins of these prevention efforts. An ongoing assessment is intended to improve this system.
