Health Monitoring in the Bourgogne and Franche-Comté Regions. Update as of January 3, 2013.

Headlines - Beware of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

Each year, on average, carbon monoxide is responsible for the accidental poisoning of nearly 80 people in Burgundy and 60 people in Franche-Comté, resulting in the deaths of some of them. These poisonings occur mainly during the heating season.

It is therefore essential to follow these recommendations:

  • Only operate gas-fired radiant heaters when the premises are occupied (particularly in places of worship, community halls, etc.);

  • Never install a generator in an enclosed space (house, basement, garage, etc.); it must be placed outside the building;

  • Never use a combustion-based space heater for extended periods;

  • Never use appliances not intended for heating purposes (braziers, camping stoves, ovens, barbecues, etc.) to heat your home;

  • Never block ventilation grilles, even in very cold weather;

  • Ventilate your home daily, even in cold weather.
