The 2018–19 bronchiolitis outbreak in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (ARA) began in week 47 of 2018, peaked in week 51 of 2018, and ended in week 5 of 2019; its duration of 11 weeks was slightly longer than what is typically observed. The overall scale of the 2018–2019 outbreak was greater than in previous seasons, with approximately a quarter more outpatient visits and emergency department visits for bronchiolitis than last year; however, the hospitalization rate following emergency department visits was comparable to that of previous seasons, suggesting the absence of particular severity.
