COVID-19

In Week 05, SARS-CoV-2 circulation decreased significantly while remaining at a high level in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. The incidence rate is 2,332 per 100,000 inhabitants, down 33%. Incidence rates are decreasing across all departments and age groups. The number of new hospitalizations for COVID-19 is high (>2,000) but continues to decline (-16%); the number of new admissions to critical care units is also trending downward (-15%). The total number of hospitalized patients continues to rise slightly, while the number of patients in critical care units is slowly decreasing.

Influenza

6th epidemic week. During Week 5 (January 31 to February 6, 2022), in inpatient care, according to data from the Oscour® network, hospital visits across all age groups for a diagnosis of influenza/influenza-like illness are once again on the rise. In Week 5, 269 emergency department visits for influenza/influenza-like illness were recorded (+58% compared to Week 4), representing 0.6% of all visits across all age groups (0.4% in Week 4). Of these visits, 188 cases (70% vs. 66% in Week 4) were under 15 years of age, and 24 cases (9% vs. 6% in Week 4) were 65 years of age or older. Of the 269 visits, 49 were followed by hospitalization, representing a hospitalization rate of 18.2% for this diagnosis (16% for those under 15 and 54.2% for those aged 65 and older). Hospitalizations for influenza/influenza-like illness accounted for 0.6% of all hospitalizations in Week 4, stable compared to the previous week (0.2% in Week 4).
