At the Lyon Cancer Center: Patients decide for themselves what physical activity is right for them, and we support them [Interview].

At the Bérard Cancer Center in Lyon, adapted physical activity (APA) instructors are based in the clinical departments and work closely with other healthcare professionals. They have a single guiding principle: to start with the expectations, needs, and abilities of each cancer patient. They inform patients, reassure them, and take a holistic, person-centered approach. Patient self-determination is crucial; they support patients so they can develop the skills that will allow them to stay active over the long term.
