Monitoring of Seasonal Illnesses in Guadeloupe. Update as of October 7, 2016.

Analysis of the Epidemiological Situation

The flu season has not yet begun. No rapid flu tests have returned positive in hospital-based testing since June 2016. However, indicators have been rising for several weeks, while remaining below epidemic thresholds. Activity related to gastroenteritis remains low. Surveillance indicators have been rising in recent weeks but remain well below the maximum values expected for the season. The bronchiolitis season is approaching. Last week, surveillance indicator levels remained below the maximum values expected for the season. However, values close to these thresholds were observed in community settings and emergency departments. RSV was isolated last week. The situation should be monitored closely over the coming weeks. Epidemiological indicators for chickenpox are at baseline levels.
