The circulating subtypes identified at the start of 2014 correspond to the AH3 and AH1N1 viruses. The number of influenza-like illnesses seen in general practice has exceeded expected peak levels for the past four weeks, indicating the onset of the epidemic in Guadeloupe.Vaccination remains the most effective means of preventing the flu and is particularly recommended for people at increased risk of complications. This year, the flu vaccination campaign has been extended until February 28, 2014; there is still time to get vaccinated against the flu.
