Dengue Surveillance in Martinique. Update as of October 29, 2020.

Epidemiological Situation

The dengue epidemic continues to spread actively in Martinique. Over the past three weeks, surveillance indicators have pointed toward a decline in the epidemic. However, case numbers remain high, well above epidemic thresholds, and the recent reporting of dengue-related deaths calls for continued vigilance. Furthermore, the new lockdown measures announced yesterday could have an impact on viral transmission. During this period of heavy rains, it is therefore essential to maintain a high level of vigilance through individual and collective efforts, which remain the best defense against the epidemic: eliminating breeding sites, using personal protection such as repellents, and utilizing mosquito nets and electric swatters. Martinique remains in Phase 4, Level 1 of the PSAGE dengue alert system: confirmed epidemic.
