Dengue Surveillance in Martinique. Update as of December 5, 2019.

Epidemiological Situation

The circulation of the dengue virus is intensifying in Martinique, with:

  • An increase in the weekly number of biologically confirmed cases (29 cases in week 2019-48);

  • A continuing upward trend in the estimated number of clinically suggestive cases seen in private practice since September, with the threshold exceeded in week 2019-48;

  • A spatial pattern showing the spread of the virus toward central and northern Martinique, with circulation remaining very active in the south; Seven newly affected municipalities are reporting confirmed cases of dengue: Le Marin, Le Robert, Sainte-Marie, Saint-Joseph, Case-Pilote, Le Diamant, and Trinité.

It is therefore important to remain vigilant given the current trends in dengue epidemiological surveillance indicators.
