Dengue Surveillance in the Caribbean. Update as of May 11, 2023.

Key Points

  • In Guadeloupe, the virus remains highly active in the municipality of Saint-François, with three epidemic hotspots: Anse des Rochers, Marina/Golf, and La Coulée.

  • In Martinique, the dengue virus continues to circulate mainly in the southern part of the island. Several dengue cases have been imported into mainland France since the start of the resurgence in cases (November 2022 for Guadeloupe and January 2023 for Martinique). The DENV-2 serotype has been identified among cases treated locally in both territories and among exported cases.

  • In Saint Martin and Saint Barthélemy, the situation remains calm. However, various factors (traveler traffic, major events) could lead to a deterioration of the epidemiological situation.
