Dengue Surveillance in the Caribbean. Update as of July 28, 2023.

Key Points

  • In Guadeloupe, the spread of the virus continues to expand across the archipelago, and two new outbreaks have been identified in Baie-Mahault and Sainte-Anne. The spread of the virus remains particularly active in the municipalities of Saint-François and Trois-Rivières.

  • In Martinique, the spread of the dengue virus is intensifying significantly and is more actively affecting a growing number of municipalities in central and northern Martinique.

  • The DENV-2 serotype has been identified in the majority of cases investigated in Guadeloupe and Martinique.

  • In Saint Martin and Saint Barthélemy, the epidemiological situation is calm, but it should be monitored closely.

  • Members of the Technical Committees for Dengue Monitoring in Guadeloupe and Martinique have reviewed the epidemiological and entomological situations in these two territories and recommend moving to the epidemic risk phase (Phase 3 of the PSAGE dengue protocol).

  • In Saint Martin and Saint Barthélemy, Phase 1 remains in effect: sporadic cases.
