COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Martinique as of July 28, 2022.
Key Points
In Martinique, the epidemiological situation regarding COVID-19 continued to improve in Week 29.
Against a backdrop of stable testing rates, the incidence rate fell below 500 new cases per 100,000 residents for the first time and decreased by 17%.
The positivity rate was also down by 2.2 percentage points compared to the previous week.
The 30–39 age group had the highest incidence rate. The 7-day rolling effective R (July 13–23) was 0.79—95% CI [0.76–0.83]—significantly below 1 and still indicating a slowdown in SARS-CoV-2 transmission over this 7-day rolling period.
In S29, the L452R mutation (C1 screening result), which is present in several Omicron sublineages (BA.4, BA.5, BA.2.11), was detected in 91% of samples, compared to 89% in S28.
In hospitals, visits to adult emergency departments for suspected COVID-19 and new admissions across all departments were decreasing. However, the number of visits for suspected COVID-19 conducted by SOS Médecins was increasing, while visits to pediatric emergency departments remained stable.
