Martinique: Health and Diet

Martinique lacked data on the nutritional status and dietary habits of its population, as the last major survey on the subject dated back to the 1980s. However, over the past twenty years, local society has changed: living standards have risen, women’s participation in the workforce has increased, and population mobility has grown. As for the food sector, it has undergone significant changes: a proliferation of supermarkets, easy access to imported products, and the emergence of fast-food restaurants... The article describes the survey process. Analysis of the results is expected to be completed by mid-2004, and the findings will be published starting at the end of the year.
