Recent Trends in Suicide Mortality in France (1985–1994)

The comparative rates calculated for the entire population confirm the trend observed in the number of suicides over the past decade; a decline from 1985 to 1991 (with the rate falling from 26 to 23 per 100,000 inhabitants), followed by a reversal of the trend with an increase through 1994, although rates remained well below the 1986 peak.
