Growing up in a rural area

Children in rural areas generally enjoy a higher standard of living than those living in urban areas—with the exception of those living in remote rural areas. Their housing conditions are better: nine out of ten children have their own bedroom. On the other hand, they live farther from many services and facilities (education, health care, culture, sports), a distance that is even more pronounced in remote areas.
