Cases of infection with the new influenza A(H1N1)v virus in France: Status as of June 5, 2009. Special Issue. Chronicle of the onset of a pandemic

Due to the emergence of a new influenza A(H1N1)v virus in North America, active surveillance for cases of infection with this virus has been implemented in France. The goal is to enable the implementation of the necessary measures to delay the spread of the virus within the country. This article describes the clinical and epidemiological characteristics of the first 57 cases diagnosed and virologically confirmed in France as of June 5, 2009. (R.A.)
