Health Literacy: Key Findings from the Health Literacy Survey (HLS) in France

The European Health Literacy Survey (HLS) conducted in 2020–2021 highlights the difficulties reported by many adults, both in France and across Europe, in accessing, understanding, or applying health information. The survey also reveals challenges in navigating the healthcare system, communicating with healthcare professionals, and processing digital information. These barriers are more common among socially disadvantaged individuals or those with chronic health conditions. This infographic highlights four key findings from the survey regarding 1) the ability to understand and apply health information, 2) the ability to navigate the healthcare system, 3) the ability to communicate with healthcare professionals, and finally 4) the ability to access health information online.
