Understand and monitor the child's disabilities.
Most childhood disabilities are permanent and lead to “lifelong” limitations in activity and restrictions on participation. It is important to better understand and monitor trends over time in the prevalence of these childhood disabilities. To this end, various sources of information are available in France, which are described in this article. These sources of information are based either on medical data used by morbidity registries, cross-sectional surveys, or cohort studies, or on national administrative data that include a census of facility needs for children with disabilities or surveys based on self-reported disability by the child’s parent. A discussion must be initiated based on the integration of this complementary information. (R.A)
