Trends in winter sports injuries. The risks of miniskis (or skiboards).

The annual epidemiological study conducted by the Association of Mountain Doctors serves to analyze the most common causes of accidents. Since 1998, the Association of Mountain Doctors network has been monitoring the emergence of a new snow sport, miniskiing (or skiboarding), and its specific risks. This article presents the method used to collect data in an "injury" database. A parallel study is being conducted on a control population of skiers. The various results from 2003—incidence of risk, relative risk, and trauma markers—are described and discussed. (R.A.)
