People with hearing impairments face a real uphill battle. [Interview]
Interview with Dominique Dufournet, president of the Bucodes-SurdiFrance association. Having become hard of hearing following a sudden loss of hearing at age 46, Dominique Dufournet comments on the findings of this survey regarding the psychological distress experienced by this population. He highlights the difficulties faced by the hearing-impaired—difficulties that are too often overlooked—and advocates for the creation of one multidisciplinary care center per region, noting that there are currently only three such centers in France. He also advocates for adequate reimbursement for hearing aids.
